"Dedication to Heather"

This May issue of the Speak Kind Words Newsletter is dedicated to the memory of my mother-in-law, Heather Leone Drinkard, who, after a long illness passed away on May 2, 2008. I will miss our ‘round (the) table’ discussions; I loved listening to her stories of her young life during the great depression and beyond. Her family and her faith meant everything to her, and through many struggles in her life she truly clung to both for strength and courage and hope. I am confident that now she is flying free. There is no more sorrow and no more death, she no longer sees through a glass darkly, but now sees clearly, face to face. Her youth is renewed and she stands in the light of the Lord’s glory.

In The One Year Bible the May 2nd reading in the Psalms is 103:1-22. I think it is fitting and appropriate, and it is with joy that I share this with you.

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower in the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children- with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the Lord all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the Lord, O my soul.”

Farewell for now Heather, you will be missed.

Women's Expo

I wanted to say hello to all of you beautiful women that I recently met at the Women’s Expo in Novi, Michigan. I enjoyed talking with each one of you; many of your stories touched me deeply and reinforced what I am doing. To those of you who purchased a t-shirt, cap, or tote bag I thank you. I hope by wearing it you make an impact for the good… I know that it is a challenge to Speak Kind Words, but its okay to challenge ourselves and then rise to the challenge. I believe that with practice we get good at things, kind words, when practiced will get easier.

A special thanks to my sister Karen for coming all the way from Colorado to help me the entire weekend. She worked hard the

whole time she was here, but we still managed to get in a few games of Mexican Train (Dominoes) any time we could. Also thanks to my sister Donna and my daughter Emily for their amazing continued support and for helping us break down the booth at the end.

We were so blown away by the really nice people who surrounded us in the neighboring booths. I truly hope to see each one of them again, we had a lot of laughs and they made (what could have been) a stressful weekend very fun. In case you didn’t get a chance to check them out at the show, you can check them out on line at:

www.soycreationsbyheather.com  Heather makes ‘perfectly scented’ soy candles. She  has such a beautiful spirit, we were very glad to be her next door neighbors.

I cannot wait to visit the girls we met from Boyne Falls Solace Spa, we became instant friends. Take a look at how inviting it would be to spend a few days here… www.boyne.com

Billy and Tammy were so helpful to us, showing us where to get free food and many other ‘tricks of the trade’. What a great joy it was to meet them. www.mosesandcompany.com

Dana and Renee’ from Passion Parties kept us grinning the whole weekend. A special thanks to you two for being able to enjoy life so freely.

A HUGE thanks to Shannon and Kathleen at www.identitiesprinting.com for always doing a fabulous job on all my screen printing and embroidery. You always come through for me my friends, and I appreciate you both greatly.

Another HUGE thanks to Tina at PC Lapeer www.pclapeer.com for helping me with all my computer questions, concerns, and constant changes to my website, and for helping me organize and construct my newsletter. None of this would be happening without your help, and you know that’s true!

SKW Quote

IT would seem as if very few of us give this power of kind words the consideration which is due to it. So great a power, such a facility in the exercise of it, such a frequency of opportunities for the application of it, and yet the world still what it is, and we still what we are! It seems incredible. Take life all through, its adversity as well as its prosperity, its sickness as well as its health, its loss of its rights as well as its enjoyment of them, and we shall find that no natural sweetness of temper, much less any acquired philosophical equanimity, is equal to the support of a uniform habit of kindness. Nevertheless, with the help of grace, the habit of saying kind words is very quickly formed, and when once formed, it is not speedily lost. Sharpness, bitterness, sarcasm, acute observation, divination of motives,--all these things disappear when a man is earnestly conforming himself to the image of Christ Jesus. The very attempt to be like our dearest Lord is already a well-spring of sweetness within us, flowing with an easy grace over all who come within our reach.

Just in time for golf season is the new Polo for women. It is made of a 65% cotton/ 35% polyester blend, washing well and giving it a silk touch. It is available in a soft pink with the SKW logo embroidered.

We have added a cap and visor in the new pink collection. They are so pretty it truly puts a feminine edge on a sports cap! This women's cap is shown on a child, but as you can see it could fit either.

If you haven’t checked out our totes you really need to give them a second look. These bags are so fabulous, everyone who owns one loves it! They hold up so well, wipe clean with a damp cloth (yes, even the pink one). We are offering a new grey color with a grey and blue embroidered logo. Now it will be even harder to decide which one you want… better get a couple!

A new twist for a tote: just a couple of new ideas to share with you… why not give a tote as a shower gift bearing baby items/ or as a graduation gift with a laptop or a book inside? They make great gifts!

Our new t-shirts for girls are so cute!!! Of all the choices we have out there of what to put on our children, wouldn’t you want your daughter to wear a t-shirt that asks others to Speak Kind Words to her? They are available in pink and purple, they are a 50/50 blend so they wash and wear perfect.
